Are you looking to understand Customised Employment and how it can improve employment outcomes for people with disability or those experiencing multiple barriers to employment?
Do you want to implement this approach within your current employment service, transition supports, or workplace?
The Comprehensive Customised Employment Course is an in-depth, interactive, and engaging training, based on MG&A’s forty-plus years of organisational expertise. The accredited course offers learners foundational information and basic competencies of Discovery and Customised Job Development within an Australian context. Upon completion of this course, participants will receive a certificate of completion from the Association of Community Rehabilitation Educators (ACRE).
This 40-hour virtual course is offered over 10 days (4 hours/day), and is presented over 5 consecutive weeks. It will cover topics in the areas of Discovery, Customised Job Development and Operationalising Customised Employment. Course instructors are available to provide ongoing support to learners throughout the duration of the course.
Participants can expect quality training conducted by subject matter experts from MG&A, a founding leader in Discovery and Customised Employment. Participants must attend every session and should be prepared for an interactive experience where they actively participate throughout all sessions. Participation includes asking and answering questions, engaging in breakout sessions and discussions with the training group. Those participating will be expected to leave their camera on for the duration of the training.
There will be future opportunities to connect with other attendees to share experiences, potential to develop a communitiy of practice and continue the conversation!
All sessions start at 8:00am AEDT and conclude at 12:00pm AEDT. Attendance at all sessions is an accreditation requirement.
Please take note that this course will take place in Australian Eastern Daylight Time. For learners outside this time zone, we suggest you check the course timing based on your location.
The lead trainers will be Therese Fimian and Randy Dicks from Marc Gold & Associates, with contributions from other guest presenters.
Therese Fimian
Therese has worked in the disability employment field for 25 years, overseeing national workforce, research, and demonstration projects and programs to increase access to employment and economic empowerment for individuals with significant disabilities.
For nearly ten years, Therese directed a national Customised Employment initiative through which jobs and internships were customised and strong partnerships with businesses were established across multiple states. She has worked with national and state agencies to develop and improve strategy, policy, and practice to increase interest in—and access to—resources and services that result in competitive, integrated employment for individuals with disabilities.
Therese joined Marc Gold & Associates in 2019 and became president of the organisation in 2022.
Randy Dicks
Randy’s work in the human service field is vast—ranging from working with the homeless, victims of sexual abuse, those with criminal histories, and those who experience mental health, physical, and intellectual disabilities.
Although varied in experience, his work has always focused on each individual, their goals and needs, and tailoring services to what will work best for them. He strives to implement this philosophy every day, through Customised Employment.
Randy has found that Customised Employment truly is a way to help people with significant barriers to employment find meaning and purpose through a job in the community, making real wages and living the life they envision for themselves.
Randy joined MG&A as a consultant in 2013. He is a lead instructor for MG&A as well as the director of MG&A’s Performance-Based Certification program.
