People with disability belong at the heart of our local community, not on the sidelines. Thriving: Strategies to move from the margins to the Heart of Community is a free workshop that introduces you to the theory and framework of Social Role Valorisation (SRV).
Social Role Valorisation helps you understand disability in its social context. It gives you strategies to support a person with disability to take their rightful place in the heart of community and experience the good things in life.
This workshop will assist you to:
Using these strategies, many people with disability have moved from being viewed by others as passive clients or child-like to the respected roles of adult, neighbour, artist, employee and more.
Guest Presenter:
Meg Sweeney has been involved with Family Advocacy for three decades, since the arrival of her eldest daughter Jos. Together they have shaped a purposeful life filled with valued roles in Jos' own home, work, leisure, family and recreation. Meg will share some strategies and guiding frameworks they used to get there.
