Join our monthly online peer group sessions to connect with other families, share your questions and experiences and learn from each other.
Ensure genuine inclusion of people with disability through lived and valued experience actively participating, belonging, and contributing to their community.
Jo Cross has several years’ experience supporting her daughter Rachael to self-manage her NDIS plan. Rachael is 27 years old, and is living a full, rich and meaningful life. She holds many valued roles and thrives within her local community.
Through self-management, Rachael and Jo have been able to prepare for NDIS reassessments, manage support staff and ultimately use funding to build a more fulfilling life for Rachael as a valuable member of her community.
All sessions will be held online via Zoom, Wednesdays 1-2.30pm (AEDT Jan-March, AEST May-June)
A Peer is someone with similar experience to you. A Peer Network is a connected group of peers.
Our peer network is a group of both family members of people with disability and people with disability who are working towards a common vision; sharing their questions, ideas and experiences with one another along the way. A peer network is not a seminar. It’s a group that works when everyone contributes. The facilitator is there to help the group stay on track, not to provide all the answers.
Inclusion is being known as a multi-faceted person – more than “the person with a disability”. It means holding socially valued roles that provide a sense of purpose and a place of belonging in the community with meaningful and reciprocal relationships, being trusted and valued and having access to good formal and informal supports.
Whether you're a family member or a person with disability, just starting with self management or a bit more experienced with it, join us to discuss and share self managing approaches with other families and self managers.
