What’s a Peer Network?

A Peer is someone with similar experience to you. A Peer Network is a connected group of peers.

Our peer network is a group of both family members of people with disability and people with disability who are working towards a common vision; sharing their questions, ideas and experiences with one another along the way. A peer network is not a seminar. It’s a group that works when everyone contributes. The facilitator is there to help the group stay on track, not to provide all the answers.

Why join this Peer Network?

  • Self management gives you the most say about who provides the NDIS funded supports you need and how they do it.
  • Learn how to use the funding to support your family member’s / your participation as a welcome and appreciated member of your community whose contributions are recognised as worthwhile.
  • Learn how to use self management to enable the person with disability to have more of the life they want not just to get what they need.

What is Inclusion?

Inclusion is being known as a multi-faceted person – more than “the person with a disability”. It means holding socially valued roles that provide a sense of purpose and a place of belonging in the community with meaningful and reciprocal relationships, being trusted and valued and having access to good formal and informal supports.

Whether you're a family member or a person with disability, just starting with self management or a bit more experienced with it, join us to discuss and share self managing approaches with other families and self managers.
