Join our monthly online peer group sessions to connect with other families, share your questions and experiences and learn from each other.
Ensure genuine inclusion of people with disability; that students with disability and their families, have opportunities to be included in mainstream education alongside their peers, with appropriate supports so that they can benefit from the educational and social experiences that school brings.
Alison Wilson is an experienced and passionate parent advocate, for her daughter with disability through both the state and independent education systems; and for all students to learn together, with high expectations in diverse, rich classrooms
All sessions will be held online via Zoom, Fridays 12 - 1.30pm AEST.
A Peer is someone with similar experience to you. A Peer Network is a connected group of peers.
Our peer network is a group of both family members of people with disability and people with disability who are working towards a common vision; sharing their questions, ideas and experiences with one another along the way. A peer network is not a seminar. It’s a group that works when everyone contributes. The facilitator is there to help the group stay on track, not to provide all the answers.
If you have a child with disability going into high school in 2025, join this group to discuss the preparation and planning with other families in a similar position.
Inclusion is being known as a multi-faceted person – more than “the person with a disability”. It means holding socially valued roles that provide a sense of purpose and a place of belonging in the community with meaningful and reciprocal relationships, being trusted and valued and having access to good formal and informal supports.
Whether you're a family member or a person with disability, join us to discuss and consider the steps in preparing for High School with other families.
