My Home My Way is a workshop to support people with disability to create and thrive living in their own home. We are running this workshop online over two days:
Wednesday 21 & Thursday 22 May 6:00pm to 8:30pm NSW, VIC, QLD, TAS (AEST) | 5.30pm to 8pm SA, NT (ACST)|4pm to 6.30pm WA (AWST) - please check your timezone
In this workshop you'll learn about individualised living and the innovative ways people with disability have created their own home, while getting the support they need.
Home is a vital part of our lives. It not only gives us security, privacy, comfort and control but it reflects our identity, our adulthood and our deep sense of who we are and how we connect and belong in our neighbourhood and communities.
Yet for many people with disability, 'home' is designed and controlled by others.
This workshop will help you find alternatives to traditional supported accommodation and help you think, plan and implement individualised living and a good life for a person with disability.
Julianne Menzies (pictured right) has devoted her time to defining and refining what her daughter's Good Life can be. Julianne's daughter, Jessica (left) has an intellectual disability. She lives in her own home in the community she chooses with the support of a housemate. Julianne will provide insight into her decision to support Jessica's choice of where to live and who with.
People with disability, their families and advocates, Australia-wide.
The cost covers both sessions
* We don't want you to miss out - if cost is a barrier, there is an option to request a fee exemption (for families and people with disability) in the registration form. If you have any questions, please contact us on 1800 774 764 or info@ric.org.au.
